May 24, 2016 and the June bugs are out! After a wet few days they have hatched and begun their attack on our windows. At least one of them has anyway. There was not what you would call a barrage tonight, just some ding ding dings.
Also today I spotted my first hummingbird of the year. It was feeding on the new hummingbird feeder outside the kitchen window (the one I’ve optimistically had hanging outside full of bright red sugar water since the beginning of April – I don’t know what I was thinking). Other people in town have been reporting sightings for about a week, but today was my first one. It was a female Ruby-throated hummingbird a lot like the one below.
