May 2 dawned bright and sunny and stayed that way warming up to around 12 degrees: Not toasty, but it felt like spring all day. I went out to listen for peepers around 8.10 pm but heard nothing. At 8.20 they started!! A loud chirpy chorus that is very impressive given their teeny size. They are two and a half weeks later than usual this year. Not surprising given our winter, and all the more welcome this year!
